Life rarely feels fair, and the story of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4 speaks directly to that tension. Abel brought his best to God and still lost his life, proving that doing the right thing does not guarantee a fair outcome. The difference between Cain and Abel was not what they gave but the heart behind it. Cain went through the motions while Abel gave genuinely and wholeheartedly. God is not interested in religious performance. He wants an honest, authentic relationship. Faith is not a transaction where good behavior earns good results. It is a relationship built on trust, even when life does not add up. And the greatest reminder of this is the cross, where Jesus took the most unfair punishment in history so that we could receive grace we never deserved.
